Tottenham have not managed to negotiate a reduced fee with the Catalan side for the goalkeeper.
Tottenham’s Pau Lopez and Son Heung-min during training
Tottenham Hotspur have called off any attempt to sign Pau Lopez, according to reports in Spain.
The Spaniard was signed on loan from Espanyol last summer. Mauricio Pochettino was a fan of his from his time managing the Barcelona club and decided to bring him in until the end of the season.

However, Lopez did not manage to force his way ahead of Hugo Lloris or Michel Vorm in the pecking order and after Luke McGee thrived on loan at Peterborough United it is hard to see why Spurs would keep him.
Diario La Grada reported that Spurs had a £6 million buy-clause they in the loan agreement. It was recently reported by the Guardian that the Premier League runners-up recently lodged a bid of £1.75 million, with another £1.75 million potentially due in add-ons, along with a cut of any future sale.

Now, according to Sport, negotiations are over. Espanyol rejected that deal and after days of silence Spurs reportedly informed the La Liga side they were no longer keen on signing the player permanently.
Lopez is now expected to return to Espanyol to play his football next season.
