Tottenham Hotspur are said to be lining up a move for Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt this summer.

Ajax have slapped a £53 million price-tag on De Light, but it has been suggested that Tottenham are the first team to announce their interest, even at that price.
De Ligt has been a revelation at Ajax this season, with his performances belying his tender years.

The 18-year-old has forced his way into Holland’s national squad, and is regarded as one of the best prospects in European football.
Tottenham already have a good relationship with Ajax, having bought the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen from the Eredivisie side in recent times.

Tottenham are likely to be looking for a replacement for Toby Alderweireld this summer, and there is a feeling that De Ligt could be that man.
Tottenham’s current record signing is Sanchez, who arrived for £42 million last summer.
And it seems that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are prepared to break that record again at the end of the season, as Spurs look to push on in their new stadium.
