Tottenham Hotspur are looking to capitalise on Everton midfielder Ross Barkley’s contract expiring.

Barkley’s contract at Everton expires at the end of the season, and although current caretaker boss David Unsworth would like to keep the midfielder at Goodison Park, that seems unlikely.
Everton realise that they face losing Barkley on a free transfer, if they do not cash in on him in January.

And Spurs are said to be be preparing to make an offer for the 25-year-old.
Tottenham would reportedly be willing to pay £15 million to take Barkley in January, rather than wait until his contract expires.

The value doesn’t represent Barkley’s true worth, but it may be an acceptable compromise for Everton, given their weak bargaining position.
If Barkley does arrive at Spurs in January, Mauricio Pochettino is believed to want to put the England international into a central midfield position.
