Tottenham Hotspur wanted Christian Pulisic but have realised they cannot afford his wages.

Christian Pulisic celebrates with team mates after scoring for Dortmund
Pulisic, 18, is regarded as the most exciting USA international of his generation and made 43 appearances for Dortmund last season in all competitions.
Many of these came as a substitute, with Pulisic scoring five goals and contributing eight assists.
Tottenham are yet to sign any players this transfer window and Pulisic could have been a smart addition.
The Mirror report Pulisic’s wage demands are above the figures which Tottenham are willing to pay, and so they have quickly abandoned their pursuit.

The Mail had claimed back in April that Spurs had sent their chief scout to watch Pulisic in action.
Pulisic told US website Penn Live last month that he had no plans to move to play for a Premier League club and is happy in the Bundesliga.
Clearly it would have required a substantial wage offer to change his mind.
