Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

According to The Sun (print edition 1/7; page 67), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Joao Palhinha from London and Premier League rivals Fulham in the summer transfer window.

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that West Ham United are also keen on the 27-year-old Portugal international defensive midfielder,  who is “aggressive” according to former Manchester United winger Nani in Antena1 in November 2020.

Could Tottenham Hotspur sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham?

In our opinion, Tottenham Hotspur could be able to sign Joao Palhinha from London and Premier League rivals Fulham in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham are a big club who regularly challenge for the top four in the Premier League table.

And it was as recently as 2019 when Spurs reached the final of the UEFA Champions League.

Leaving Fulham for Spurs would be a step up for Palhinha.

Fulham paid £17 million for the 27-year-old in the summer of 2022 (The Sun), and the Cottagers will surely want much more for him now.

While there is speculation that the Cottagers could ask for £90 million for  Palhinha, it is unlikely that any club, including Tottenham, would pay that much for the Portugal international.

However, a bid in the region of £40-50 million could be enough for Spurs to secure the services of Palhinha.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph have reported that Eric Dier does not want to leave Tottenham in the summer transfer window, while Spurs are open to selling Ivan Perisic.
