According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Leicester City over the signing of James Maddison.

Spurs are in competition with Manchester United and Liverpool for Maddison’s signature, with Mauricio Pochettino said to be very keen to bring the attacking midfielder to White Hart Lane.

Tottenham have now let Leicester know of their interest and have made an enquiry for the England under-21 international.

Leicester have told Spurs that they want around £60 million if they are to even consider selling the 22-year-old, who they paid just £20 million for a year ago.

The Foxes don’t want to sell Maddison and are under no pressure, but Brendan Rodgers’ side would consider huge money offers.

Whether Tottenham will step up their pursuit for Maddison now remains to be seen.

Pochettino’s men appear to have other irons in the fire, with Giovani Lo Celso also heavily linked by Sky Sports.

Maddison could be seen as a long-term replacement for Christian Eriksen by Tottenham, as the Dane has just a year left on his contract at White Hart Lane.
