Tottenham Hotspur are keen to sign Florian Lejeune from Eibar, but Newcastle United look more likely to sign the defender.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Eibar over signing Florian Lejeune.
Lejeune has been in impressive form in La Liga this past season, and Spurs scouts have been alerted to the 26-year-old.

Tottenham are now considering signing the Frenchman, and have already made a move.
However, Spurs are refusing to pay Lejeune’s release clause, which stands at £8.7 million, and that makes any deal unlikely.

Newcastle United are interested in the central-defender, and are willing to pay Eibar’s asking price to take him to St. James’ Park.
Newcastle are keen to strengthen in defence, and value Lejeune at a higher price than Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Spurs could now be forced to look elsewhere, as Pochettino looks to add another defender to his squad.
