According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are set to attempt to buy Nathan Ake from Bournemouth in January.

Ake has impressed at the heart of Bournemouth defence, and Mauricio Pochettino has been impressed by the youngster’s progress.

Spurs now want to add the 23-year-old, as they look to bolster their defence.

Tottenham still have concerns over the future of Toby Alderweireld, and see Ake as a potential long-term replacement for the Belgian.

Getting Ake could be a problem for Tottenham though, unless they pay big money.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe reportedly wants to build his team around Ake, and has no desire to sell.

Tottenham have shown a reluctance to spend big in the transfer market, but will be forced to, if they are to get Ake.

Manchester United are also said to be in competition with Spurs for the Dutchman, who has been a mainstay in Bournemouth’s team this season.
