Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021, according to The Athletic.

It has been reported that Konsa was on the radar of Tottenham when Toby Alderweireld’s £25 million release clause became active in the summer of 2019, but with the Belgium international not leaving the North London club, no move materialised.

Spurs are reportedly ‘studying’ the 23-year-old centre-back as an option, as the Premier League club aim to reinforce their defence in the summer of 2021.

Would Ezri Konsa be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?

Konsa has been on the books of Villa since 2019 when he joined from Brentford and has done well for Dean Smith’s side.

The 23-year-old has established himself as a key figure at the back for the Villans and has formed a strong partnership with Tyrone Mings.

According to WhoScored, the former England Under-21 international has made 19 starts and one substitute appearance in the league for Villa so far this season, scoring two goals in the process.

Former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher said on Sky Sports Premier League in January 2021 that he is “a massive fan” of the defender, while Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham praised the youngster on Instagram for his performance against Newcastle United last month.
