Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has been ruled out for 10 weeks with injury.
According to a report in the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has been left devastated by the news that he could miss up to 10 weeks worth of action due to injury.
Vertonghen rolled his ankle during Tottenham’s 4-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.
The Belgian defender left the pitch in clear distress, and scans have revealed that he has damaged ligaments.

Vertonghen is now set to miss a sizeable chunk of the remainder of the season, in what is a major blow for Spurs’ title chances.
Tottenham are currently in second place in the Premier League table, and they have won their last seven matches.
Mauricio Pochettino has recently changed to a formation which incorporates three centre-backs, and has enjoyed great success.

However, with Vertonghen out for a considerable amount of time, he could revert back to a 4-2-3-1 system.
If Pochettino does stick with three central defenders, Ben Davies, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Kevin Wimmer will be fighting it out to take Vertonghen’s place in Spurs’ starting line-up.
