Tottenham Hotspur are considering trimming their squad.

Lamela was not included in the squad for the group stages due to his hip injury, from which he has now recovered.
The winger has been working his way back into the Tottenham first team recently, and Spurs need to find a way to ensure he is available to play against Juventus in the knockout stages.
This will mean leaving out a foreign player due to UEFA’s limits, and The Guardian report Spurs are considering loaning one out.

Potential candidates include Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Juan Foyth, although the young defender could be kept on in light of Toby Alderweireld’s fitness.
Spurs’ cause is not helped by UEFA considering Eric Dier as a ‘foreign player’ under their rules, because he played his teenage years at Sporting Clube de Portugal and lived abroad from seven-years-old, and is not considered ‘homegrown’.
Making a decision to loan out a player to accommodate Lamela for the Champions League could end up backfiring if the Argentine gets injured again, but such is his upside, it is a risk they appear willing to gamble on.
