Christian Eriksen is an important player for Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Goal.com, Tottenham Hotspur are increasingly confident that Christian Eriksen will sign a new contract and will not leave in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that talks over a new contract are going on between Tottenham and the attacking midfielder.

Spurs are reportedly looking to at least double his current weekly salary of £75,000, with the report also claiming that negotiations have “progressed significantly in recent weeks”.

Eriksen is one of the best and most creative midfielders in Europe, and the Denmark international staying at Tottenham beyond the end of the season is certainly great news for the North London club’s fans.

After all, if Spurs are to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title next season, then they need to keep hold of their best players.

Eriksen has made 26 starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season, scoring six goals and providing 12 assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
