Tottenham Hotspur are said to be closing in on signing Vincent Marcel from Nice this summer.
According to a report on ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur view Vincent Marcel as a signing for their development squad, rather than their first-team.
Spurs have reportedly agreed a five-year deal in principle with Marcel, but still have to negotiate a price with Nice for the winger.
Tottenham scouted Marcel, while keeping tabs on their right-back target Ricardo Pereira.
And Mauricio Pochettino is said to view the 20-year-old winger as one for the future.
Tottenham have struggled to bring in players from France successfully in recent times, with Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Clinton Njie both failing to make much of an impact.
Pochettino viewed both Nkoudou and Njie as players who could affect his first-team straight away, but the Argentine boss is far more cautious about Marcel.
Marcel is likely to spend a season with Spurs’ development squad, before being brought through into the first-team.
If Marcel does join Tottenham he could be their first recruit of the summer, as Pochettino’s transfer plans yet to take shape.
Tottenham are thought to be on the look out for new additions, but they have made slow progress so far.
