Report: Tottenham Hotspur believe in-demand player keen on transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention to signing Callum Wilson from Bournemouth after agreeing a deal with Southampton over the transfer of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to The Daily Star.

It has been reported that Tottenham are on the verge of bringing Denmark international midfielder Hojbjerg from Premier League rivals Southampton.

The North London outfit will now turn their focus on signing a back-up striker to Harry Kane and are looking at Wilson of Bournemouth, according to the report.

The 28-year-old England international is reportedly at the top of Tottenham’s wish list, with Spurs favourites to beat West Ham United and Newcastle United to his signature, with the striker having told Bournemouth that he wants to leave this summer.

The report has added that although Bournemouth want more than £20 million for the striker, Spurs believe that ‘the player is keen to join them and that a compromise can be reached’.

Good back-up striker?

Kane is one of the best strikers in the world, and it is not going to be easy for Tottenham to find a world-class player for the same position who is willing to warm the substitutes’ bench.

Wilson is a good striker who knows the Premier League inside out, and if played to his strengths, he will score goals for Spurs.

If Tottenham are able to sign the 28-year-old for less than £20 million, then it will be a good deal indeed.
