Tottenham Hotspur are hoping that Sergio Reguilon falls in love with the club and rejects the opportunity to rejoin Real Madrid if it comes around, Football London report.

Reguilon joined Spurs this summer, after Jose Mourinho’s side learned his availability, and the deal was considered too good to be true.

Tottenham even agreed to allowing Madrid to have a buy-back clause, such was their desperation to get the deal done.

That could potentially turn into a worry if the Spaniard does go on to impress in North London, as they know they are powerless to resist if Madrid come back in for the full-back.

But Tottenham are hoping that Reguilon enjoys his time with them so much that he will have no interest in returning to the Spanish capital.

Whether their plan is a success remains to be seen, but Reguilon will certainly have enjoyed his time at Spurs so far.

The full-back has played his part in wins over Chelsea and Manchester United in his first two appearances and has already caught the eye.

Reguilon appears to be Jose Mourinho’s first choice at left-back now, after being backed to start at Old Trafford, and his attacking threat has given Tottenham a new outlet.

Reguilon and Spurs will next be in action after the international break, when Jose Mourinho’s side take on West Ham United.
