Tottenham Hotspur take on Everton at White Hart Lane this weekend, and could have the defensive pair both available.

A report in the Telegraph has suggested that Tottenham are hopeful that they will receive a double injury boost ahead of their game with Everton this weekend as they currently expect Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen to be ready for the clash.

The two centre-backs handed Mauricio Pochettino a scare as they both had to be substituted during Spurs’ emphatic victory over Stoke City last weekend, but the Telegraph has suggested that the changes were more precautionary than urgent.

The Telegraph adds that Alderweireld’s situation was slightly more worrying, but there is now reason to believe that both will play a key role this Sunday when the Toffees visit White Hart Lane.

That news will undoubtedly be warmly received by Pochettino as his side gear up to face an Everton team that have been brilliant lately and a striker who seemingly cannot stop scoring.

Ronald Koeman’s men are unbeaten in the league since mid-December and have won six of their last nine since that most recent loss in the top flight, beating the likes of Southampton and Manchester City along the way.

A key reason for their recent results has been the form of Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian has scored eight since the Merseyside derby, including four in the 6-3 victory over Bournemouth, so keeping him quiet could go a long way to ensuring that Tottenham bag another win.

And luckily for Pochettino, it seems that he will have Lukaku’s two international teammates available to him for the contest.
