According to The Telegraph, Tottenham hope to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu during the Olympic Games as the Japanese star gets set to represent his nation.
Japan are hosting the Olympics this time around, and that means that their football team has been given a place in the football competition, and Tomiyasu has been called up.
Of course, the fact that Tomiyasu will be halfway across the world for the next month doesn’t help Spurs’ chances of closing a deal for the Bologna ace, but they won’t let that stop them, reportedly hoinge to complete a deal during the Olympics.

Should Tomiyasu enjoy a successful campaign with Japan at the Olympics, he could be on duty all the way until August 7th, 29 days from now, and if he comes away as a gold medalist, he’s likely to have a part to play in the closing ceremony on August 8th, 30 days from now.
That gives Tottenham quite a broad time period to thrash out negotiations with both the player and his club, as they reportedly sit £5m below Bologna’s £21.5m asking price.
Bologna are right to ask for such a fee for the player. After all, he’s an incredibly talented defender who has been described as ‘very strong’ in the past.
Fabio Paratici has a job on his hands in negotiating that deal, but with Spurs reportedly looking to get the deal done during the Olympics, this is one that could be done within the next 30 days.
