Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to get Dele Alli tied down to a new contract which will see his wages almost doubled.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Tottenham have held informal talks with Dele Alli regarding a new contract and Spurs are optimistic that the 21-year-old is ready to commit his future to the club despite interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Alli has been a revelation since arriving in the Premier League from MK Dons, so much so, that his return of five goals and six assists in the top flight this season is deemed to be something of a slump in form for the Englishman.

The Mirror reports that Madrid and PSG are both keen, and that has prompted Tottenham to hold preliminary talks with Alli about a new deal worth £100,000 a week – almost double what he currently earns.

The Mirror adds that Alli – who signed his last deal just 18 months ago – has made it clear to the Spurs hierarchy that he is happy with Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and there is hope that he will have committed his future to the club by the end of the season, though formal talks are yet to begin.

Given the teams reportedly interested in luring Alli away, it would undoubtedly be a major statement if Tottenham managed to get the midfielder to sign a new deal – especially as you would imagine that both Los Blancos and PSG would be able to better the wages that Spurs are set to put on the table.

It is the first time in three seasons that Tottenham look in any danger of missing out on the top four so having one of their best players indicate that he wants to stay is certainly a huge positive at this moment.
