Tottenham Hotspur have two major concerns about Ralph Hasenhuttl, with the Southampton boss one of the candidates to replace Jose Mourinho at the Premier League giants, as reported by the Athletic.
You might have noticed that 2021 has been a bit of a struggle for the Saints.
In fact, no team in the top flight has picked up fewer points since the turn of the year than Hasenhuttl’s sliding side.
Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to a now Jose Mourinho-less Spurs means Southampton have now lost 12 of their last 15 games; that brief spell at the top of the Premier League table now a very distant memory.
Hasenhuttl has somehow managed to stumble through a dismal run of results with his reputation largely intact, however, and the Athletic reports that the 53-year-old Austrian still has a place on Tottenham’s managerial shortlist.
But, as you might imagine, a miserable tally of seven points a possible 45 has not gone unnoticed by the Spurs bosses.
The Athletic say that there are serious concerns about the way Southampton have plummeted down the Premier League table, going from the European places to just above the relegation zone in the blinking of an eye.

The report adds that Tottenham also have misgivings about Hasenhuttl’s man-management style, with some fearing that the former RB Leipzig boss may clash with the playing squad at Spurs.
Given the way many Spurs stars fell out with both Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino – the last two marriages ending in an unhappy divorce – you can understand why Daniel Levy would like to avoid getting into another toxic relationship.
