According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur have now decided who they want to become their next manager.

Spurs have been searching for a new boss since parting ways with Jose Mourinho last month, with Ryan Mason’s spell as interim boss now over.

It’s claimed that the top candidate has been decided, but the manager in question has not been named in the report.

Tottenham hope to appoint them inside the next 10 days, but need to strike an agreement with their club, so the manager in question is currently in a job elsewhere.

That rules out the likes of Rafa Benitez, Hansi Flick, Paulo Fonseca, Maurizio Sarri, Ralf Rangnick and Massimimo Allegri, who have been mentioned in recent weeks.

The compensation needed to buy the mystery manager out of his contract is believed to be huge, and will ‘test Tottenham’s financial resolve’, whilst strong contenders for the job have made their interest known in the final stages of the season.

That may point towards somebody like Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers or Ajax’s Erik ten Hag, who recently signed a new contract with the Amsterdam club.

It seems that Daniel Levy and co have found their manager after taking their time in the hunt for Mourinho’s replacement, but there is still so much work to do.

The compensation, the salary for a new manager, bringing in their backroom staff… oh and attempting to convince a new manager to come in just as speculation surrounds Harry Kane.

This clearly isn’t a done deal by any stretch, but Tottenham have at least found the manager they want; now they need to go and get them.
