Flamengo coach Jorge Jesus is fully aware that Tottenham Hotspur want to raid his Copa Libertadores-winning side for Brazilian midfielder Gerson but, according to Esportes, he has nothing to worry about.
Just 11 months ago, Flamengo broke an all-time record when they brought an all-action 23-year-old back to his South America from Fiorentina.
The £10.5 million price-tag made Gerson the most expensive Brazilian footballer ever signed by a Brazilian club.
So, with that in mind, Flamengo will obviously want a substantial profit if they are to sell one of their prized assets just a year on.
Tottenham have offered £16 million for a man who had spells in Italy at Roma and Fiorentina.
Esporte points out that such a ‘bizarre’ bid was immediately rejected out of hand, with Flamengo valuing Gerson closer to £43 million.

The report adds that Spurs have already turned their attention to signing another midfielder instead, knowing that a team who won a historic double in December have absolutely no plans to cash in on a dynamic, all-action enforcer.
Tottenham’s interest in Gerson was understood to be driven by Jose Mourinho, a former Porto boss who knows compatriot Jorge Jesus better than most.
But, as Esporte points out, the latter is not fearing a raid from the former with Spurs seeing their approach for Gerson batted away with barely a second thought.
