Spanish newspaper SPORT claim Tottenham have asked about signing Barcelona attacker Memphis Depay in talks to land Clement Lenglet – with a deal expected sooner rather than later for the French defender.
Reports over the weekend said that Lenglet is on his way to North London to undergo a medical at Spurs. An initial loan deal, with a permanent clause, is on the table for the France international to join Tottenham.
Now, Depay could join him. A player also said to be interesting Arsenal, the ex-Manchester United attacker has entered the final 12 months of the two-year deal he put pen to paper on last summer with Barcelona.

SPORT report that Spurs have asked about Depay while thrashing out a move to sign Lenglet. A fee of £17million will be accepted by Barcelona, while Depay will entertain moves to clubs that are currently in the Champions League.
Tottenham have asked about Depay in Lenglet talks
It would be a waste of money for Tottenham, now. While he is a top player, there are two major issues regarding Depay. Firstly, he is injury prone – proven by his first season at Barcelona, suffering numerous problems.
Secondly, is the signing of Richarlison. Spurs now have a back-up striker to Harry Kane, but a player in Richarlison that can also play out wide. Depay’s wages will not be small, and Spurs are better off saving their cash.
They still need to improve their options at right wing-back, and perhaps bring in an attacking midfielder. Even replacements for others that could go. Depay would be a foolish use of cash reserves.
