According to Football London, Tottenham have the option to extend Gareth Bale’s loan spell by a further season.
The Wales international is currently on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, although Football London have said they understand Spurs have the chance to extend that further.
That is really, really helpful for the north Londoners and Jose Mourinho.
Bale is a player who is very delicate, and could easily get injured at any moment.
Mourinho has worked hard to ease the ex-Southampton man in, but precautions are still being taken.

Wales left him out of their friendly against the USA recently, while Bale was spotted with ice strapped to his ankle after being withdrawn against West Brom.
In that respect, having the option of a second season is very handy, because there may not be enough time this term to see if Bale is worth signing permanently if he does pick up a bad injury.
It would be heartbreaking to have to abandon the huge fan favourite because he hasn’t shown enough to achieve a permanent return to Tottenham.

However, in being able to extend the loan, Bale is also being allowed to take his time and regain some match fitness after being left out in the cold by Real Madrid.
On the contrary, if he only had one season at Spurs, there might’ve been the potentiality that he could’ve rushed himself in order to make up for lost time.
