Eintracht Frankfurt could be without star midfielder Mario Gotze for tomorrow night’s UEFA Champions League clash against Tottenham, with the Germany international picking up an injury.
According to Bild, the 30-year-old was not seen in training on Monday morning as Frankfurt prepare to take on Tottenham in what could be a crucial European tie between the two clubs, with both sides losing one and winning one of their opening two Champions League games.
Gotze signed for Frankfurt this summer and has been an integral part of Oliver Glasner’s new-look team, with the former PSV Eindhoven playmaker already bagging two Bundesliga goals since his return to Germany. However, the midfielder could now be out to face Tottenham.
Frankfurt secured qualification to the Champions League by winning last season’s UEFA Europa League against Rangers, and it’s been a mixed campaign for the German side, with form in both Europe and in the Bundesliga being quite up and down.

Indeed, tomorrow night’s clash against Tottenham will arguably be Frankfurt’s biggest test in Europe so far this season, and having Gotze out through injury would be quite the blow for Glasner’s men, who could have a real shot of qualifying for the knockout stage of the Champions League.
With Tottenham heading into the game of the back of a North London Derby defeat to Arsenal, Antonio Conte will be eager to get his side back to winning ways. And facing a Frankfurt side without their star playmaker in Gotze is a huge boost for the Premier League side.
Gotze injury could help Tottenham secure Champions League progression

Tottenham’s loss to Sporting Lisbon earlier in the season threw away expectations that Spurs were in for an easy ride with this group, yet with Frankfurt coming up next for Conte, the north London side have the potential to make a huge step to qualifying for the next round with a win against the German side.
Gotze potentially missing the match due to injury might be a blow for Frankfurt, yet the news will be like music to the ears of Tottenham, who simply have to return to winning ways after the drubbing Conte’s side experienced on Saturday against Arsenal.
