Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly fearing a 2019 move from Real Madrid for Mauricio Pochettino.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are fearing a move from Real Madrid for boss Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season.

Spurs have seen Pochettino work wonders since his move from Southampton in 2014, and his exceptional work in North London has been highlighted even further this season.

Pochettino has been dealt a tough hand; no summer signings, players short of fitness after deep World Cup runs and a host of injuries, yet Spurs have enjoyed a superb start to the season.

Spurs convinced Pochettino to sign a new contract at the end of last season, despite links to Real Madrid, though some have been concerned that the Argentinian could still go in 2019 having appeared a little frustrated at times this term – specifically when telling The Independent last month that he has never been so unhappy at Spurs.

Tottenham’s situation wasn’t helped by Real sacking Julen Lopetegui just a day after those comments, and the Daily Mail now report that Spurs are hugely worried that the Spanish giants will make a move for Pochettino at the end of the season.

A return to Spain for the former Espanyol boss may be hugely appealing, especially at a club like Real Madrid, but there are two other men who may just be able to ease Daniel Levy’s fears.

Caretaker boss Santiago Solari has until the end of the season to put himself in the frame for the job on a permanent basis, just as Zinedine Zidane did in 2015, whilst there is also a suggestion that Antonio Conte could be tempted into the role – but only at the end of the season.

Those two names have a real chance to be Real manager next season, and Spurs will be hoping – and possibly praying – that one of them comes to the fore, rather than leave Real attempting a much more complicated move for Pochettino come next summer.
