According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is interested in signing defender Calum Chambers from North London rivals Arsenal.
Spurs chose not to sign a new centre back last summer or in January despite looking thin in that area, though Eric Dier has dropped back in to play as part of a back three for most of the season.
Yet, with Kevin Wimmer agitating for first-team football and Cameron Carter-Vickers inexperienced, manager Pochettino may well want to bring in another central defender – and he is keen on a player he has worked with before.
The Daily Mail report that Tottenham are monitoring the situation surrounding Arsenal centre back Calum Chambers, ahead of a possible summer move to land the defender.
Chambers is a familiar face to Pochettino given that they worked together at Southampton, with the now-Spurs boss handing Chambers his Premier League debut back in 2013, before he joined Arsenal just a year later.
The 22-year-old has struggled to nail down a first-team place at the Emirates Stadium though, and has spent this season on loan at Middlesbrough, where he has impressed in a tight defence at the Riverside Stadium.

Chambers would fit the bill for Spurs as a young, promising and versatile defender, but they would have to face rare talks with their North London rivals in order to complete the deal.
Whilst the likes of Sol Campbell, Rohan Ricketts, William Gallas and Emmanuel Adebayor have been on the books with both clubs in recent memory, none of them required direct talks between Arsenal and Tottenham to get the deal done, either moving as free agents of via other clubs.
Any talks over a deal for Chambers could subsequently prove difficult for Spurs, given that Arsenal will be reluctant to aid their fierce rivals and a major competitor for the Champions League places.
