90Min claim Tottenham are considering a surprise move to sign Bayern Munich striker Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting in the January window – as the Cameroon star continues to shock many onlookers with his incredible 2022-23 form.
Now 33, Choupo-Moting has lived an intriguing career. After spells in the Bundesliga with the likes of Nuremburg, Mainz, Schalke and Hamburg – he went to Stoke in 2017. But he managed just five goals in 32 appearances for Stoke.
The biggest surprise came at the end of his first season at Stoke. He made the stunning move to PSG, to provide cover for PSG’s attacking heavyweights. Just nine goals followed in two years – playing 51 times – for the French champions.
But Bayern Munich chose to bring him in on a free. Signing a three-year deal, his form has propelled with the German champions. He has 28 goals in 73 games, only 23 of which have been starts. But his form this season has been superb.
Indeed, he has made himself first choice under Julian Nagelsmann of late, scoring an impressive 10 goals in 15 games. Three Champions League goals in four games, and five goals in his last five Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich.

Tottenham considering move to sign Bayern striker Choupo-Moting
Now, Tottenham are interested. Choupo-Moting has a contract until the end of the season, but he is crucial to Bayern and given his form, Bayern will wan to keep the 68-time Cameroon international. Spurs want to sign another striker.
One to cover Harry Kane – who of course, has been linked with Bayern. Bayern will not want to lose Choupo-Moting, and it will be interesting to see what Choupo-Moting would do. He may feel he wants to test himself in England again.
However, the one thing that will probably make up Choupo-Moting’s decision, is that he is first choice right now for Bayern. At Tottenham, he would not get past Kane and would be back-up. Thomas Tuchel says he is a “good player”.
