Tottenham Hotspur reportedly expect Danny Rose to stay with the club this summer.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose is expected to stay with the club following heart-to-heart talks with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Rose, 27, joined Spurs from Leeds United way back in 2007 having emerged as one of the country’s most talented youngsters at Elland Road, but it took a while for him to really hit his stride with Spurs.

After loan spells with Watford, Peterborough United, Bristol City and Sunderland, Rose – who transformed himself from a winger to a flying full back – eventually became a star under Mauricio Pochettino, evolving into a key part of the Tottenham side thanks to his pace and attacking ability down the left flank.

Now England’s first-choice left back and a star with Tottenham, Rose has caused uproar this month by speaking to The Sun about his situation, suggesting that he is underpaid, angling for a return to the north of England and even unhappy with Tottenham’s lack of transfer activity this summer.

Whilst many felt that Rose could leave Tottenham before the transfer deadline later this month, Spurs have stood firm – and The Mirror now claim that the club expect the left back to stay after a lengthy meeting with manager Pochettino.

It’s believed that Pochettino held heart-to-heart talks at the Tottenham training ground in a bid to rectify the situation with Rose, and Spurs are now confident that Rose will commit his future to Spurs despite his concerns.

The expected U-turn may be something of a blow for Chelsea, who were allegedly preparing a £60million bid to land Rose before the transfer deadline later this month, with Tottenham determined not to lose the England international.

Rose has in fact been out injured since January, and Spurs will hope that the focus quickly turns to getting him back to playing football rather than questions over his immediate future.
