Italian outlet TMW claim Bayer Leverkusen want just £26.5m for defender Piero Hincapie in the summer despite penning the defender to a new contract at the Bundesliga club – amid interest from Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton.
Hincapie, 21, has starred for Leverkusen ever since joining the club in the summer of 2021. Already, the Ecuador star has emerged as one of the best defenders at his age in the Bundesliga. He has already played 56 times for Leverkusen.
The Ecuador man continued his meteoric rise at the World Cup, starring in Ecuador’s three group games. Now, he has signed a new deal at Leverkusen. But, the new terms is unlikely to deter clubs, despite the lack of a release clause.
The report claims that Leverkusen would be willing to cash in on Hincapie for a fee of £26.5million. Earlier this week, CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs said that Everton had joined Newcastle and Spurs in the race to sign the left footer.

So, where is his best move? Well, Spurs desperately need a left-footed centre-back. Ben Davies is good, but not great. Consistent, but not excellent. Clement Lenglet is only at Spurs on a dry loan. He is likely to return to Barcelona, soon.
Newcastle have their defence sorted. Sven Botman is a superb option in terms of left-footed central defenders. Dan Burn is playing at left-back, but he is ideal cover if the Toon sign a left-back. So, Newcastle are well equipped.
Everton have centre-back options, but Hincapie would immediately improve on those. However, with Everton sitting in the relegation zone and unlikely to offer European football, a move to Spurs or Newcastle is much more likely.
For a fee of £26.5million, though, Hincapie is certainly affordable for any of the interested parties. It is a surprise that he may be allowed to leave on the cheap, given he has signed a new deal. Perhaps, part of him staying in January.
