According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
It’s claimed that Spurs have offered £15million so far, which is £10million short of Southampton’s preferred fee.
However, it’s believed that talks are progressing and Spurs are now edging closer to a deal, with the Dane keen to join Tottenham.
Hojbjerg did have interest from Everton as they pursued a £19million deal, but he told them he wanted Spurs instead.
The 24-year-old is Jose Mourinho’s top target as he pursues a new holding midfielder, and Southampton look set to sell with just one year left on his deal.
The report also notes that Tottenham are still in talks with Southampton about a separate deal that would see right back Kyle Walker-Peters join the Saints permanently after a strong loan spell.

However, the Saints have an alternative target in mind – West Ham United’s Ryan Fredericks. He is allegedly available this summer, and Southampton are keen on him as somebody they could sign instead of Walker-Peters.
Fredericks came up through the Tottenham ranks, so an ex-Spurs player leaving the club’s London rivals could damage their chances of selling Walker-Peters – and in-part funding the Hojbjerg move.
