Tottenham Hotspur are launching a double move for Leicester City’s James Maddison and Harvey Barnes – but their offer will fail.
Leicester City are poised to reject a £50million offer from Tottenham Hotspur for James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Tottenham have now put their first offer on the table for both Maddison and Barnes.
Tottenham have offered £50million to sign the duo, which Leicester are now planning to reject.
The report claims that Leicester valued Maddison and Barnes at £60million each last summer.
The Foxes have now been relegated though, leaving Tottenham to try their luck with a cut-price move for both players.
Unsurprisingly though, £25million each isn’t anywhere near enough and Leicester want much more for the duo.
Barnes would give Ange Postecoglou another option down the flanks with Lucas Moura and Arnaut Danjuma leaving the club.
Maddison is a top playmaker and exactly the kind of creative threat Tottenham really need to play Postecoglou’s style.
Whether Tottenham return with a new move is now up in the air, and they are bound to face major competition.
Newcastle United could rival Tottenham Hotspur for James Maddison and Harvey Barnes
We would expect Newcastle United to be right in the mix for both players.
90min reported last week that Newcastle were looking to sign Maddison this summer.
However, Newcastle are reluctant to offer more than £50million for Maddison – the price put on the table by Spurs for both him and Barnes.

The Sun claimed in May that Newcastle wanted both Maddison and Barnes with £40million price tags on their heads.
That means Tottenham are effectively £30million away from even making Leicester think about a double deal.
That’s a huge gap for Spurs to bridge and they are at real risk of missing out with Newcastle interested in both.
