According to Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham Hotspur are negotiating swap deals with Juventus – and they involve defenders.
It’s claimed that Tottenham are trying to close a deal for Atalanta right back Timothy Castagne, and that could open up swaps with Juve.
The two clubs are allegedly talking, and one deal would involve Serge Aurier. If Castagne arrives, Spurs would allegedly be willing to let the Ivorian leave in a swap for Alex Sandro.
Tottenham would be giving up cash plus Aurier in that deal, strengthening their left back spot if they have already brought in right back Castagne.
One other idea being discussed involves Danny Rose. Currently on loan at Newcastle, the 29-year-old has no future at Tottenham.
Juventus would seemingly be interested in taking him in exchange for Mattia De Sciglio. Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are keen, but Tottenham are interested in a swap.
De Sciglio is likely to move on this summer, and offers versatility to play at left back and right back. Jose Mourinho may well view him as ideal competition on both sides.
If Spurs can come out of the summer window with Castagne, De Sciglio, Sandro and Ben Davies as their chief full backs, then fans would surely be pleased – especially if there is minimal spending involved.
Swap deals aren’t easy, but they may become more popular due to the financial impact of the global pandemic. Juve and Spurs appear to be starting work early on this front if these rumours are true.
