Tottenham Hotspur could yet decide to sign Christian Eriksen on loan from Inter Milan in January, the Guardian report.

Spurs offloaded Eriksen to Inter last year, but he has endured a miserable time with the Italian side.

Eriksen now looks set to leave Italy in the coming weeks, and Tottenham are talked up as a contender to sign him, although any deal is regarded as difficult to pull off.

Eriksen is considered to be a potential target for Jose Mourinho’s side, who may look to bring in a playmaker.

If Eriksen did sign it could allow Dele Alli to leave, as the 24-year-old has become frustrated at Spurs.

Alli has suffered with a lack of game time this season, but the report claims that Tottenham have no intention of letting him go any time soon.

If Eriksen did come in that may well change, though, as Mourinho would then have the options available to cope with Alli’s exit.

The new possibility of a loan move could be a smart way of bringing Eriksen back for Spurs, if they were to go through with it too.

The 28-year-old, who was hailed as ‘world-class’ by Luka Modric (Sports Mole), has been so out of form for a concerted period of time now that signing him on a permanent transfer may not be the best option.

But bringing him in a short term fix would surely be welcomed by many supporters, and if Spurs could get him back to his best, then he could turn into a valuable player to have over the second portion of the campaign.
