Manchester United are desperate to land Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier, and are prepared to offer the eye-watering fee.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could sanction a bid for Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier that is worth an eye-watering £60 million.

The Mirror reports that United have made the England international one of their priority targets for the summer, and had hoped to pay around £40 million to bring him to Old Trafford – but Tottenham have no desire to sell the 23-year-old.

United are prepared however, to make an offer of £60 million to test Spurs’ resolve further, the Mirror reports, and it appears that Dier would be interested in talking to the Red Devils about a potential switch.

The Mirror adds that the former Sporting Lisbon man is keen on a switch despite agreeing a new long-term contract just last year – but convincing Daniel Levy to give a deal the green light appears set to be a much tougher task for United.

With Tottenham enjoying a very quiet window so far, it would perhaps be a surprise if Spurs were willing to sell Dier to United as they would not have too long to find an adequate replacement before the Premier League season starts.

Dier has been a key player for Mauricio Pochettino’s side over the last few seasons, so landing a player who offers what he brings would surely be an extremely tough ask.
