A ghost of Tottenham Hotspur past could be resurrected soon, according to a report.
Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino signed Spanish goalkeeper Pau Lopez on a season-long loan from Espanyol during the 2016-17 campaign.
But Lopez returned to Spain a year later never having played a single minute for Tottenham, in a competitive game.
Fast forward a few years and the 25-year-old has developed into a fine goalkeeper, earning a permanent move to Roma last summer.
And according to Estadio Deportivo, Tottenham are interested in bringing the player back to North London.
Jose Mourinho will need at least one goalkeeper this summer, as Michel Vorm prepares to leave following his short-term return.
The Portuguese coach will only have Hugo Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga next season and, if we’re honest, neither are super reliable.
And it’ll be interesting if Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy – the one who pulls the transfer strings in North London – genuinely does want Lopez or whether this is mere paper talk.
