Tottenham Hotspur have been keen on signing the Real Betis ace all summer long.
According to a report from the Sun, Tottenham could now offer Erik Lamela to Real Betis as part of a deal to bring Giovani Lo Celso to north London.
Spurs have already spent big this summer, signing Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon for a club record fee, whilst also bringing in Jack Clarke from Leeds United, before loaning him back to the west Yorkshire outfit.
It appears as though Mauricio Pochettino’s business is far from finished, however.
Tottenham have allegedly been tracking Giovani Lo Celso all summer long, according to the Sun.
The British tabloid claims that Daniel Levy is not prepared to pay the £60 million asking price for the Argentine, however.
Instead, Spurs are considering offering Erik Lamela to Betis in an attempt to sweeten the deal.
The 27-year-old, who currently earns £80,000 per week according to Spotrac, joined Tottenham from AS Roma in the summer of 2013 for a fee believed to be worth £25.7 million, according to BBC Sport.
The Argentine has had little impact for Spurs over the past few years, with injuries seriously hindering his progress under Pochettino.
And letting him leave as part of a deal that would see Lo Celso arrive really would be great business for Tottenham.
The Argentina international could end up being the signing that takes Spurs to that elusive next level, and losing Lamela might just have to be a sacrifice that Pochettino is prepared to make in order to transform his team into genuine challengers for honours home and abroad.
