According to a report from Sky Sports News, Tottenham could be set to ramp up their interest in Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook, with a move for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish looking increasingly more unlikely.

The 21-year-old joined the Cherries from Leeds United in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £7 million, and he has since gone on to make 53 appearances in all competitions for Eddie Howe’s side.

Cook is a real classy operator, with a really bright future ahead of him, and the way in which he plays makes him ideally suited to Mauricio Pochettino’s setup at Spurs.

Tottenham certainly need another midfielder, with Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama facing uncertain futures in north London.

Sky Sports claims that Cook is a transfer target for Spurs, and that Poch is particularly keen on signing him because of the similarities between the way in which his side and Bournemouth play their football.

Considering the cost of their new stadium, Pochettino will most likely have to be thrifty in his player recruitment.

Whilst Cook would not come cheap, it wouldn’t take an extortionate amount of money to bring him to Tottenham, and if Poch does manage to sign him for Spurs, it could turn out to be a really significant piece of business for the club.
