Spurs are weighing up a late swoop for Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to the London Evening Standard.

The report claims that the Frenchman has admirers at White Hart Lane and that the club could be tempted to make a move but will not match his £35 million valuation.

Sissoko has made it clear that he wants to leave St James Park, with a move to a Premier League club playing in the Champions League his preference.

An excellent Euro 2016 campaign has boosted his market value but with less than two days until the transfer window closes, Newcastle will likely have to compromise on price if they want the midfielder gone.

Sissoko would be a strong addition to the Spurs squad and could act as solid cover for Mousa Dembele as well as another option in a more advanced midfield role.

The Lilywhites have been proactive in shipping players out this summer and with Ryan Mason set to be the latest departure, Spurs need to bring in reinforcements to ensure they are not left short.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Pau Lopez are both expected to sign before midnight tomorrow but more may be needed if Tottenham are to compete effectively on all fronts this season.
