Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been chasing the Frenchman all summer long.

According to a report from Football.London, Tottenham are now in the final stages of competing a deal to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, and it could be announced as early as next week.

This is in spite of renewed interest from Juventus, with the Lyon ace preferring a switch to north London.

The 22-year-old has been on Spurs’ radar for quite some time now, but the Frenchman’s reported switch to north London was cast into doubt earlier this week, when Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claimed that a deal was a long way from being completed.

Football.London now claims that Aulas’s comments were purely a negotiating tool, however, and that Tottenham are moving ever closer to wrapping up a deal to sign Ndombele.

They suggest that the initial deal will be worth around £62 million, with potential add-ons taking the total value of the transfer up to £75 million.

That would smash Spurs’ previous transfer record, and would actually be nearly double the amount that they paid for Davinson Sanchez two years ago.

Ndombele is a real talent, however, and if Tottenham eventually manage to sign him, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be a real force next season.
