According to 90Min, Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has real admirers at Tottenham Hotspur as they consider life after Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho finds himself under increasing pressure at Tottenham having crashed out of the Europa League in embarrassing circumstances, losing 3-0 to Dinamo Zagreb.
Spurs could end the season without silverware, though Mourinho may have bought himself some time with Sunday’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa.
Daniel Levy will still have a decision to make this summer, and it’s claimed that some decision makers at Tottenham admire Ancelotti as well as Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
Ancelotti has fared admirably at Everton, turning the Toffees into real top four contenders, or at least giving them hope of returning to the Europa League.
He has developed Dominic Calvert-Lewin into a star, and Ben Godfrey looks to be following suit, with Ancelotti showing that he can not only manage big names but also develop younger players.
That should appeal to Levy and co, who brought in Mourinho was his perceived ‘winning’ mentality – something that Ancelotti can also provide.
He and Mourinho have been interlinked over the years, both managing Chelsea and Real Madrid whilst even battling it out in Milan during respective spells with AC and Inter.
It seems unlikely that Spurs will be able to prise Ancelotti away from Everton, or Nuno away from Wolves for that matter, given the compensation needed to land them, but the interest is certainly fascinating as Levy considers a change in the coming months.
