According to The Daily Star, Tottenham have told Barcelona that they have no chance of signing Ryan Sessegnon this summer.

It’s claimed that Barcelona are leading the pursuit of Sessegnon, who notably wasn’t named in the Tottenham squad to face Everton last Monday.

However, Spurs allegedly no plans to sell Sessegnon any time soon. They paid £25million to sign him from Fulham last summer, and unsurprisingly see big potential in him.

Tottenham have told Barcelona to ‘forget about’ signing Sessegnon according to this report, with the club adamant that he isn’t going.

The 20-year-old has managed just four league starts this season, though he has chipped in with one goal and one assist in Europe.

Whilst Mourinho allegedly sees Sessegnon as a left back going forward, he is currently seen as a left-sided winger – a spot Son Heung-min seemingly has locked down.

It’s therefore difficult for the youngster to pick up minutes right now, especially with Spurs hardly in experimental mode given that they want European football next season.

Sessegnon will probably be on the bench against Arsenal today, and will hope for a bigger role next season as an early escape to Barcelona has seemingly been ruled out.

The London Evening Standard reported just days ago that Sessegnon is ‘puzzled’ by his situation at Spurs, as he is barely playing right now – but maybe Mourinho has big plans for the future.
