French outlet Foot Mercato claim Tottenham are battling Napoli in the race to sign Rennes attacker Martin Terrier. The Frenchman has scored a huge 21 goals this season, even nominated for Ligue 1 Player of the season.
Joining Rennes in the summer of 2020, Terrier had only scored nine goals and laid on eight assists in his first season. But this time around, the France Under-21 international has scored a huge 21 goals in just 45 games.
The winger, who can also play up top, has also laid on seven assists. His form, unsurprisingly, has attracted the interest of numerous big European clubs. Napoli are keen, as are Tottenham, who have even made an offer.
No surprise that Spurs are interested given his form, but he has a contract until the summer of 2025. It remains to be seen how much Spurs would need to pay, on a player Rennes spent £12.5million to sign (GFFN).
Tottenham want to sign Terrier: Frenchman would be a good signing
Terrier would be a brilliant signing – as they look set to enter the Champions League. Spurs need cover for Harry Kane. Terrier would provide that – but he would not simply be a back-up striker, warming the bench.
Terrier is a brilliant winger and can even play in the 10 role. A good age, in the form of his life, it all depends on the price Rennes want. If they can get him for between £25million and £30million, it is a superb signing.
