According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are cooling their interest in signing Everton playmaker Ross Barkley.
Spurs are expected to be in the market for new signings this summer having come up short in their bid for the Premier League title last season, but it’s unclear just how much Mauricio Pochettino will be able to spend.

Barkley, 23, has come up through the ranks at Goodison Park but has endured his ups and downs during his time in the Everton first team, having failed to develop as many expected.
Last term, Barkley hit five goals and eight assists in the Premier League, but Everton seem ready to cash in this summer given that Barkley has yet to sign a new contract, meaning he could walk away for nothing when his deal expires next summer.

Tottenham had been thought of as his most likely destination, but Spurs are believed to be backing away from a move, as they are no longer sure that the inconsistent playmaker is worth buying.
Of course, this could simply be Spurs chairman Daniel Levy feigning disinterest in a bid to drive down Everton’s asking price, but if true, Barkley would be left with few escape routes from Goodison Park, leaving both Everton and Barkley in limbo this summer.
