Tottenham Hotspur remain in the market for new signings this summer.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur are still pushing to bring in two new signings before Thursday’s transfer deadline, with Jack Grealish a prime target.
Spurs remain the only Premier League team yet to make a single signing this summer, with fans beyond frustrated at the fact that Mauricio Pochettino isn’t being backed with new faces.
For two summers in a row, Spurs did their business late; in 2016, Pau Lopez, Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou arrived on deadline day without much success, whilst it took Spurs until August 23rd last summer to make their first signing, ending up with five signings in eight days.
That approach hasn’t really paid dividends for Spurs, and many were hoping that Pochettino would be backed with signings early this time around, but it’s the same old story as Tottenham are left entering the final days of the window needing additions.
Some even believe that Spurs will end the summer without a single new signing, but with the amended deadline coming up on Thursday, Sky Sports claim that Tottenham are attempting to finalise two signings.
It’s stated that three players – Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele – are available, and Spurs will attempt to bring in two new faces, with Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish one of them.
The 22-year-old playmaker has been linked with Spurs for some time now, but they have been unable to finalise a deal, and they will hope to break Villa’s resolve for Grealish in the coming days, after he hit three goals and six assists last season.
It’s unclear who the other target would be, but if Alderweireld does leave, a new centre back would certainly be needed to compete with Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez, though Rose’s exit would leave Spurs light at left back too, and fans will feel that selling and buying players is being done far, far too late in the day.
