It isn’t quite the high-profile star that Tottenham Hotspur fans are craving, but it looks like Daniel Levy is about to complete one signing imminently.
Wigan Athletic youngster and former Liverpool talent Alfie Devine has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs in recent weeks.
The Daily Mail reported this week that Tottenham were in talks with the administration-hit Latics over bringing the 15-year-old gem to North London.
And according to The Liverpool Echo, this deal could be concluded either today or tomorrow.
It’ll be a few years before Devine is anywhere near ready for Tottenham’s senior side, if he ever reaches that point.
But this is a good deal if Lilywhites’ recruitment team and Levy feel that he’s worth the reported £500,000 fee that it’d take to sign him.
For a 15-year-old player, that’s relatively expensive and it’ll be interesting to see how he develops over the coming years.
One person who’ll be following his career closely is Jamie Carragher.
Devine was released by Liverpool after four years, before joining the DW Stadium club, and the Anfield legend admitted that he was ‘gutted’ Wigan couldn’t keep hold of him.
