According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are ready for a deadline day battle over signing Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes on loan.
Spurs tied up their third signing of the summer on Wednesday by snapping up Juan Foyth from Estudiantes, adding the Argentinian defender to goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga and centre back Davinson Sanchez.
Meanwhile, West Ham have gone for Premier League experience with their four main signings, adding Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez to their squad – but they lie bottom of the Premier League table.

The two sides still need more additions for very different reasons, and they could go head to head over the signature of Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes as the transfer window enters its final day.
The Mirror report that both clubs want to take Gomes on loan for the season, with his availability allegedly attracting the interest of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, whilst West Ham are lining him up after missing out on his Portugal international team-mate William Carvalho.
Gomes, 24, was highly rated with both Benfica and Valencia before being snapped up by Barcelona last summer, with The Guardian reporting that the Catalan giants paid a whopping £42million to land him on a five-year deal.

However, Gomes failed to impress with Barca last season, starting just 17 league games whilst contributing only three goals and one assist, with Barcelona now willing to loan him out for the season in return for a hefty loan fee, after he was pushed down the pecking order with the signing of Paulinho.
Tottenham and West Ham are now expected to battle over Gomes’ signature, with Spurs no doubt hoping that Champions League football can help them win the race, though he may have a greater chance of guaranteed first-team football with the struggling Hammers.
