Spurs and the Saints could do battle over the 25-year-old.

Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton are monitoring Hoffenheim star Mark Uth ahead of a potential summer move, according to a report from the Mirror.

German-born Uth rose to prominence in the Netherlands, scoring 20 goals in 37 games for Eredivisie side Heerenveen in 2014-15.

He continued that fine form by netting 13 times in 25 appearances in his debut season in the Bundesliga after moving to Hoffenheim 18 months ago, and has hit five in 10 games for the side this season.

An extended injury absence has limited his playing time this season, but his goalscoring record in Holland and Germany have attracted interest from abroad.

According to the Mirror, both Tottenham and Southampton are watching the 25-year-old’s progress carefully as they mull over a potential summer move.

Uth has just 18 months left on his Hoffenheim deal, and as he would be entering the final year of his contract in the summer, the report claims he could be available for as little as £6 million.

Spurs fans will be wary of interest in a relatively unknown striker who thrived in the Dutch league in light of the way in which big-money summer signing Vincent Janssen has struggled to adapt to life in England this term.

However, at potentially such a low cost, they may decide that Uth is worth a gamble in the summer, although it appears they may have to beat Southampton to the punch if they want to firm up their interest.
