Spanish website Cadena COPE claim that both Tottenham and Newcastle are interested in signing Juventus loanee Alvaro Morata. The signing of Dusan Vlahovic is likely to push Morata down the pecking order at Juve.

Morata, 29, remains on loan at Juventus from Atletico Madrid – having joined the Old Lady on a two-year loan deal in the summer of 2020. Last term, the Spain star was excellent, scoring 20 goals and creating 12 more.

But this season, his form has dipped – netting just eight in 29. Juventus have chosen to spend big and raid Fiorentina for Vlahovic – and it pushes Morata down the rankings. He could see Juventus cancel his loan deal.

Atletico will want him gone but are only willing to accept loans to the Premier League – not to Barcelona, who are keen. Obviously, Barca are seen as a direct rival to Diego Simeone’s side, but the Premier League is likely.

COPE claim both Newcastle and Tottenham are interested in signing the Spain star – who played under Antonio Conte at Chelsea. Juventus have a permanent clause worth £33.5m (Eurosport) in his loan from Atletico.

Newcastle and Tottenham eye Morata: Loan deal for striker?

While Morata has often been criticised for his wastefulness in front of goal, you only have to look at his record to know he has scored goals wherever he has gone. In the Premier League has scored 16 goals in 47 games.

Newcastle have brought in Chris Wood, and have Callum Wilson. But they want another striker and Morata would certainly be a huge improvement. For Spurs, they need cover for Harry Kane and Morata knows Conte well.
