London News Online claim Tottenham and Manchester United are among a number of other Premier League clubs battling to sign AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper Spike Brits, who at just 15 years of age, is pushing for a senior debut.
Born in 2007, Brits has already been training with the first team at AFC Wimbledon – and was even on the bench in a recent London Senior Cup game in October. Incredible, at his age, not least because he is a goalkeeper.
Onlookers probably noticed Brits when he turned out of England’s U16 side earlier this season. He stood between the sticks for the entire game in his first cap, a 1-0 defeat to Belgium in November. A team captained by Chris Rigg.
Sunderland’s young talent has already broken into the Championship’s first team and Brits is not far off following him. He got his second England U16 cap five days before Christmas, keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Turkey.
But Wimbledon will do well to keep hold of Brits. That is because a number of clubs at the top end of the English pyramid are starting to show interest. Among them, include Tottenham and Manchester United. Time will tell.

Which move is best for Brits? Is he better off remaining at Wimbledon and breaking into the first team – or would he be best moving to the likes of Spurs or United, and making a name for himself in the Under-18, or Under-21 sides.
Obviously, getting first-team football at Wimbledon is probably his best move. It is his closest chance to actually getting senior game time. But, how quickly will that happen? Spurs and United would give him the platform to grow.
The path into Tottenham’s senior side looks promising, too. Hugo Lloris is likely to go in the summer, Fraser Forster is in his mid-thirties. Brandon Austin, Alfie Whiteman and other reserve goalkeepers are not long-term options.
