The Tottenham Hotspur full-back continues to be linked with a Manchester City move but he will not come cheap.

According to a report from the Independent, talks between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur over the potential signing of Kyle Walker are expected to drag on for another week, with the Blues as yet unwilling to meet Spurs’ valuation.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants £50million for the right-back, and given the player’s contract situation the Spurs supremo can sit back and relax, knowing he holds all the cards.

There is no need to cash in on the 28-year-old this summer, but with Kieran Trippier usurping Walker by the end of the last campaign, it would not be terrible news for Tottenham if the latter did ultimately move on.

In short, Levy is exactly where he wants to be – in the box seat when it comes to transfer negotiations.

A source told the Independent that the two sides were still sparring over the fee, with City nowhere near Tottenham’s valuation as things stand.

Pep Guardiola’s side certainly have the money yet they will not want to be held to ransom and much will depend on just how high Walker is on City’s list of priorities.

Walker has played 229 matches for Tottenham, scoring four goals and providing 21 assists in the process.

Last season he featured 39 times in all competitions, yet he only started four of the club’s last 10 league games and Trippier would be a more than able replacement if Tottenham get a huge sum for Walker.
